For education only

Everything on Inner Anatomy, including its pages, the 3D brain, lessons, quizzes and study guides, is there to help you learn. It is not medical advice, a diagnosis or a treatment plan, and Inner Anatomy is not a medical device.

Talk to a professional

  • Always ask a doctor or another qualified health professional about any question you have about your health or a medical condition.
  • Never ignore professional medical advice, or delay getting it, because of something you read or saw on Inner Anatomy.
  • Using Inner Anatomy does not create a doctor-patient relationship, and we can't answer questions about anyone's own health.

In an emergency

If you think you or someone else may be having a medical emergency, call 911 in the United States, or your local emergency number, right away. If you are thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the United States, or contact a crisis line where you live.

About the 3D brain and pictures

The 3D brain is rebuilt from research atlases of the average adult brain. Real brains differ from person to person, and some parts are drawn by us with approximate borders. The microscopic scenes are simplified illustrations, not drawn to scale. None of them should be used to judge anyone's scan or health.

About the health sections

Pages describe conditions such as stroke, epilepsy or Alzheimer's disease in general terms, so that you can learn how the brain works. They are not complete, they don't cover every case, and they are not a guide to anyone's own symptoms or treatment.

Our sources

We check our facts against textbooks and published research, and every page lists its sources. Science changes, and mistakes are possible. If you find one, please tell us. See also our terms of use.
